Icom cloning cable installation

New Icom equipment can be programmed using what Icom calls cloning cable.

There are 2 types of cables: RS-232C and USB

RS-232C cloning cables are for example: OPC-478/966/1122

These are some USB models:
OPC-478UC - (for IC-F3100, IC-F4100)
OPC-966U  -  (for IC-F3160, IC-F4160)
OPC-1122U - (for mobiles and repeaters)
OPC-1862   -  (for portables)

Some tips:
IC-F3162
If using GPS optional microphone (Multi-Connector/D-Sub 25pin port Mode is set to GPS) to get radio in programming mode, press P0 and turn radio on, otherwise the cloning software won't be able to connect to the handset.

The installation instructions are provided with the cable and can be downloaded here (Icom Japan).
These are the steps:

• install USB driver
• restart the pc
• plug the USB cable
• open Device Manager
• go to Ports
• Check the number of the Icom USB port
• Open CFS3160
• Go to menu COM Port
• Click More...
• Enter the port number
